Therefore the employees’ sense of crisis and urgency have been increased, their positive actions has been motivated, production has been improved and scientific research has been enhanced. A system of integrated services of plate making, printing and binding has been formed for production. The institute can undertake composing of different types of words, plate making for color images, printing and binding. In order to quicken development, a production line of “single piece precoat photosensitive plate” was built in 1998, which filled the void of the production of precoat photosensitive plate in Hunan province. The quality of the products all passed the inspections of the relevant offices of the National Press and General Administration of Press and Publication, and all the technical specifications have met the state department standards. The trademark “ Xiangguang Plate” has been registered, and the products are selling all over the province.

In the aspect of scientific research, through the joint efforts of all the professionals, averagely one scientific research is successfully conducted each year since the year 1999. For example, in 1998 JD99 Glue Bookbinding Machine was developed, which passed the technical appraisal of the Bureau of Press and Publication of Hunan Province in January 1999, obtained the practical potent certificate (certificate no.: 394610) issued by the Patents Service Center of Hunan Province, and in March 2000 it was awarded the third prize for scientific and technological advancement by the National Press and General Administration of Press and Publication. After that, the UV200 Lustering Machine, High-Speed Book Packaging Machine, Digitally Controlled Offset Printing Machine, and Hydraulic Pressure Three-Side Book Trimmer were developed one after another. Hence the technical resources have been increased, and the self- “hemopoiesis” function has been enhanced. The institute has won the title of “Double Civilized Unit” awarded by the Bureau of Press and Publication of Hunan Province and the Hunan Publishing Group, the “ Advanced Unit in Comprehensive Treatment” by Changsha municipal government, and the title of “ Excellent Member of the Group” by the Hunan Printing Association.
